Summary

Serve 20 straight years? Free park entry and licenses. Also, the department can spend on “promotional products.”

The bill makes Texas Parks and Wildlife waive state park entrance fees and hunting, fishing, and combination license fees for Texas first responders who have served at least 20 straight years or who have a serious service-connected disability. It covers certified firefighters, certified EMS personnel, municipal police officers, sheriffs and deputies, and constables and deputies, and it also adds a line letting the department spend to promote park visits and raise park revenue. Starting September 1, 2025, qualifying first responders get free park entry and free licenses, and licenses bought before then are not refunded.
