Summary

People 62 or older and with a disability join veterans.

Texas law bars cities and counties from making landlords accept tenants based on their lawful source of income, such as housing vouchers, but it already lets local rules protect military veterans. This bill extends that same exception to people 62 or older and to people with a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Starting September 1, 2025, a city or county could ban landlords from refusing to rent to seniors or disabled people because of how they lawfully pay rent.
