Summary

Every case where the department itself finds it appropriate.

The bill tells the state child protective services department to use a parental child safety placement in every case where the department itself decides that kind of placement is appropriate. When the department decides it is not appropriate, caseworkers must write down the reasons in the child's case file and tell the child's state representative and state senator about the decision and the reasons. Families in child protection cases get a written record of why that placement was rejected, and local legislators get notice of each rejection, starting September 1, 2025.
