Notice the attorney general and the commission, then file right away.
This bill lets a local government, an affected person, or an authorized agent file a civil suit over environmental violations under Texas Commission on Environmental Quality authority right after the attorney general and the commission's executive director get the required notice, instead of waiting 90 days. It touches cities, counties, other local governments, affected residents, and the businesses or operators accused of breaking environmental laws, rules, orders, or permits. Suits can now be filed without the 90-day wait, and a suit is still barred if the commission or the attorney general has already started its own action on at least one of the same violations. It also repeals Subsection (e), whose text is not shown in this copy.
