Summary

The Uniform Plumbing Code is out. The 2015 one is in.

The bill makes the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners adopt only the 2015 International Plumbing Code, dropping the Uniform Plumbing Code that state law now lists alongside it. It touches plumbers, cities and public water system owners, who may still amend the code for local concerns as long as the changes do not substantially vary from board rules or conflict with state law. The board must write rules to carry this out by December 1, 2025, and may later adopt newer editions of that one code.
