Summary

Training tells election workers to accept IDs that may not match.

The bill changes how Texas election workers handle photo IDs for voters who identify as transgender. It requires state election-worker training to tell workers to accept IDs that may not match a voter's gender presentation, and to cover the history of those voters being kept from voting. At the polls, a gender marker on an ID that does not match how the voter presents can no longer be used to reject that ID, starting September 1, 2025.
