Summary

Their direct reports too, at board-run agencies.

The bill caps how long a person can serve as the executive head of a state agency run by a board, or in a job that reports directly to that head, at 10 years. It also requires the board to review the head's performance, and the head to review each direct report, by the fifth anniversary of hiring and decide whether to fire them. The rules apply only to contracts made on or after September 1, 2025, so people already in these jobs under earlier contracts stay under the old law.
