THE TEXT

“The commission shall establish an advisory committee to study the need to implement suicide prevention and peer support programs in fire departments in this state.”

Bill text, introduced version (I)

The bill's only operative act is to create a committee that studies the need for programs and reports back by September 1, 2026; no suicide prevention or peer support program is created, so any action waits for a later legislature.

THE TEXT

“(1) two fire fighters, appointed by the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters;”

Bill text, introduced version (I)

The bill creates a new advisory committee with appointed seats, several of them filled by named associations rather than state officials, and the commission must supply administrative support and resources to it. The caption openly names the committee, so this fires only softly.
