Summary

Every Texas county, not only certain ones.

This bill lets county fire marshals inspect group homes, and charge the related fee, in every Texas county instead of only the certain counties the current law covers. It touches group home owners and operators, and county fire marshals statewide, and it swaps the old local definition of group home for the one in Section 769.001 of the Health and Safety Code. On the ground, the bill deletes the subsection that limited this inspection power and drops 'in certain counties' from the section heading, effective immediately with a two-thirds vote or otherwise on September 1, 2025.
