Caption
relating to the repeal of the authority to exclude certain students
without certain required immunizations from attending public
school in times of emergency or epidemic.
Schools can’t keep exempt students out during an outbreak anymore.
The bill repeals one subsection of the Education Code, Section 38.001(f), which the caption describes as the authority to keep certain unimmunized students out of public school during an emergency or epidemic. It touches public schools, health authorities and students who attend school under an immunization exemption. Once it takes effect, schools would lose that specific legal power to exclude those students during an outbreak.
