No stricter than federal immigration enforcement’s orders for undocumented immigrants.
The bill says the governor, the state health department and local health authorities may issue public health orders during a declared disaster or disease outbreak only if those orders are no stricter than any public health order federal immigration enforcement issues for undocumented immigrants. It touches the governor, the state health department, local health authorities, and every Texan subject to pandemic-style health orders. On the ground, any state or local health rule such as a mask, quarantine or vaccine requirement would be capped at whatever the federal immigration agency requires of people in its custody.
