Summary
Felony, theft, forgery or drug-dealing offenses, once appeals are done.
The bill makes the Texas Real Estate Commission and the appraiser licensing board suspend, revoke, or refuse a license when the holder pleads guilty or no contest to, or is convicted of, a felony, certain theft, fraud, forgery, or property-damage offenses, or a drug-dealing offense, once appeals are done. It covers real estate brokers, sales agents, inspectors, appraisers, and appraisal management companies, and it reaches pleas and convictions dating back to January 1, 2020. A person whose license is revoked this way cannot get a new one for ten years from the later of the revocation or the end of the sentence, and the old optional discipline for these convictions is replaced by this mandatory rule.
