Summary

Housing department answers within 60 days.

The bill makes the General Land Office ask the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs whether state-owned land under review could be leased or developed for affordable housing. The housing department must answer within 60 days, and the Land Office must put that answer in its reports and recommendations to the governor. It replaces an older, narrower rule that only triggered a housing review when the land's best use was found to be residential, so more state property gets an affordable-housing check before any deal.
