Summary

Any offense in front of them, no warrant.

The bill lets a second group of licensed peace officers, those listed in Article 2A.001(14) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, arrest without a warrant when they are outside their home jurisdiction and see any offense happen in front of them. It keeps the existing limit that traffic-law arrests outside jurisdiction can only happen in the county or counties where the officer's employer sits, and it widens that employer reference from just a city to a city or a district. Starting September 1, 2025, officers employed by districts covered by that listing gain the same out-of-jurisdiction arrest power that city police already have.
