No licensed agency foster home verification first.
The bill lets a relative or other designated caregiver of a foster child choose regular foster care payments instead of the relative caregiver benefits, without first being verified as a licensed agency foster home. It touches relatives and family friends raising children in state foster care, and the state agency that pays them. On the ground, kin caregivers who are not licensed could draw the higher foster care payment rate starting September 1, 2025.
