Summary

De-escalation makes the list. So do students with autism.

The bill rewrites the list of topics covered in required training for Texas public school educators. It lets that training cover positive behavior support and de-escalation, and it requires the special education training for general classroom teachers to address students with autism and students with disabilities who also have other intellectual or mental health conditions. Starting September 1, 2025, school districts must build their educator training around these topics, alongside the existing suicide prevention and bullying training.
