Summary

Title and author, every time. Parents can opt out.

The bill requires every Texas school district to email a parent each time their child checks out a school library item, and the email must list the title and author. Before each school year, districts must tell parents in writing that they can opt out of these emails, keep a current notification list, and process opt-out requests promptly. Open-enrollment charter schools must follow the same rule, and it starts with the 2025-2026 school year.
