Summary

A physician delegates. Hospitals, hospice, and now opioid treatment clinics.

The bill lets a physician delegate prescribing or ordering of Schedule II controlled substances to advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants working in a state-permitted narcotic drug treatment program. It touches doctors, the nurses and physician assistants they supervise, and opioid treatment clinics holding a Chapter 466 permit. On the ground, these clinics could have non-physician providers order Schedule II drugs such as methadone, adding a third setting next to hospitals and hospice.
