Available whenever no physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant is on site.
The bill requires the Texas Juvenile Justice Department to contract for telemedicine services as part of the medical care it provides. Those services must be available whenever a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, or physician assistant is not on site at the facility. Youth in state juvenile facilities would have remote access to a medical provider starting September 1, 2025, when no provider is physically present.
