Summary
Neurodegenerative diseases join the short list.
The bill adds neurodegenerative diseases to the short list of conditions for which a health plan can require prior authorization for a prescription drug only once a year. It touches health insurers that offer prescription drug coverage and patients being treated for neurodegenerative diseases. Starting with plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2026, those patients face at most one yearly approval step for their drugs instead of repeated ones.
