Summary

The committee studies deaths linked to voluntary termination. Therapeutic records stay out.

The bill directs the state's existing Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee to study deaths and severe health complications linked to voluntary termination of pregnancy. It also removes the rule that kept records about voluntary termination of pregnancy out of the committee's work, while records about therapeutic termination stay excluded. As a result, the committee can collect, keep, and review records on voluntary terminations alongside other pregnancy-related deaths, starting immediately or on September 1, 2025.
