Summary

Hazardous duty pay and paid injury leave, like other state officers.

The bill moves peace officers commissioned by the state fire marshal onto the higher Schedule C pay scale that other state law enforcement officers use, and orders the state auditor's classification officer to reclassify their positions starting with the budget period that begins September 1, 2025. It also adds these officers to the list of state law enforcement officers covered by the hazardous duty pay definition and by the paid injury leave law for peace officers. Fire marshal investigators get pay and benefits on par with other state officers, and the injury leave applies only to injuries on or after September 1, 2025.
