Summary

Court rules may not interfere with officials acting within their authority.

The bill bars Texas Supreme Court rules from interfering with an appointed or elected official who is acting within the authority the constitution or state law gives that official. It touches the Supreme Court's rulemaking power over all Texas courts, and every state and local official whose duties could be affected by court rules. Court rules would still govern practice and procedure, but they could not get in the way of an official doing an assigned duty unless another law specifically allows it, starting September 1, 2025.
