Optional. Check it, and your military status shows up in records the department releases.
The bill makes the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles give people a checkbox to say they are in the U.S. armed forces when they register or renew a vehicle. It touches every vehicle owner who registers in Texas, but only service members who choose to check the box are affected. If they check it, their military status goes into the vehicle's registration record and shows up in any records or reports the department releases about that vehicle.
