Summary

The department studies the grants’ effect on pet sterilization. Report due September 1, 2026.

The bill orders the Department of State Health Services to study how it awards grants from the animal friendly account, working with the Texas Humane Legislation Network. The study looks at how the grants affect pet sterilization, how to simplify applying and reporting, and how to make the grants better known, and it gathers comments from past grant winners. The department must send the legislature a report by September 1, 2026, and the law expires September 1, 2027, without changing how any grant is awarded.
