Summary

DPS planes get their own exception from Chapter 2205.

The bill pulls aircraft owned and operated by the Department of Public Safety out of the general state aircraft chapter's rules by adding a new exception. It touches DPS, its pilots, and the state office that otherwise manages state aircraft under Chapter 2205. On the ground, DPS maintains and schedules its own planes, bases them wherever it sees fit around the state, and must use its own employees as pilots, starting September 1, 2025.
