Summary

How much of your school taxes goes to the state, on the county website.

The bill requires county tax assessor-collectors to post, on the county website, what share of each school district's maintenance and operations taxes goes to the state under recapture, or, for districts not in recapture, what share of the district's operating revenue comes from local taxes versus state funds. It touches county tax offices, school districts and every property owner who gets a school tax bill. Starting January 1, 2026, tax bills must also carry a notice pointing taxpayers to the web page where those percentages can be viewed.
