Summary

Drops “two-way” as long as the method records sight and sound.

The bill lets a trial judge, with the parties' agreement, hold uncontested hearings where the court is approving an agreement by electronic means, in addition to preliminary matters and witness testimony already covered. It also drops the word "two-way" from the kinds of electronic communication allowed, as long as the method can visually and audibly record the proceeding. Judges, lawyers and parties in civil cases gain another option to handle routine agreed approvals remotely starting September 1, 2025.
