Summary

Same salary as legislators. Pensions figured as if they earned a district judge’s base salary!

The bill ends the rule that State Board of Education members serve without pay and gives them the same salary and expense reimbursement as state legislators. It also puts board members into the elected-official retirement plan run by the Employees Retirement System, with their pension accounts figured as if they earned a district judge's base salary, the same way legislators' accounts are figured. Board members would start drawing pay and earning pension credit for service on or after September 1, 2025.
