Summary

Plaintiffs say whether another party paid their lawyer.

This bill adds a new step a person must take to collect attorney's fees under the state's attorney's fee recovery section: they must disclose whether their lawyer was paid by another party to represent them. It touches plaintiffs seeking fees under that section and the outside parties who pay their lawyers. On the ground, a claimant who wants fees must reveal any third-party payment to their attorney, starting September 1, 2025.
