Summary

The governor’s office administers the account. Lawmakers can designate funds alongside gifts, grants and donations.

The bill creates a new Texas Advanced Nuclear and Innovative Energy Technologies Office inside the Governor's office and a dedicated account in general revenue that holds only gifts, grants, donations, and whatever money the Legislature later designates. The office may use that account to reimburse qualifying expenses for early siting and development and for construction of advanced nuclear reactor projects in Texas, and the text does not define qualifying expenses or put any money in the account. The Public Utility Commission must plan for the use of advanced nuclear reactors and receive the office's information on grant recipients, starting September 1, 2025.
