Summary

Your notice demand is your final number. Insurer pays it in time, claim settled.

The bill says that when a property owner sends the required presuit notice to an insurer before suing over a property damage claim, the dollar amount demanded in that notice must be an amount the owner will accept as full payment. If the insurer pays that amount within the existing notice or inspection window, the claim is settled and resolved. This touches policyholders, their lawyers and property insurers, and it turns the presuit demand from an opening number into a binding settlement offer for lawsuits filed after the bill takes effect.
