Summary

Railroad Commission inspectors find a bad line, they tell the Public Utility Commission.

When Railroad Commission inspectors find an oil or gas site power line that does not meet the National Electrical Code, the bill requires them to tell the Public Utility Commission. The two commissions must then work together to have the electric utility decide on or carry out a disconnection, or to have the state fire marshal or a local authority inspect the site and make the operator fix dangerous conditions. Operators of well sites and oil and gas surface facilities, and the utilities that serve them, face these new follow-up steps for inspections on or after September 1, 2025.
