relating to the payment of employment compensation by certain state agencies.

Summary

Covers salary groups A12 through A17 on Schedule A.

The bill lets certain state agencies already named in an existing pay law choose to pay some employees twice a month instead of once. It covers workers in the lower salary groups A12 through A17 on the state's Schedule A pay scale. An agency that opts in must follow the comptroller's rules for twice-a-month payroll, and the change can start right away if two-thirds of each house votes for it, or September 1, 2025 if not.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the payment of employment compensation by certain state

agencies.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Section 659.082, Government Code, is amended by

a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as

provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this

Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this

Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
