Summary

Agencies must share suicide death data quickly, and the shared data is not confidential.

The bill orders the state health and human services agency, working with the state health department, to write a report every two years on suicide rates and on state suicide-prevention programs, due to state leaders by November 1 of even-numbered years. It requires the two agencies to sign an agreement to share suicide death data quickly, adds the behavioral health coordinating council to the list of entities that can get that data, and orders the health department to run a Texas Violent Death Reporting System tied to the federal one. State agencies and universities on the council must feed information into the report, and the suicide data shared under these rules is not confidential.
