Summary

At least half of each school day. Charter schools too, from 2026-2027.

The bill requires every Texas public school district and charter school to have a librarian on site for at least half of each school day at every campus. It touches school districts, charter schools, their campuses, and the librarians they would need to hire or schedule, and it tells the education commissioner to write rules to carry it out. Starting with the 2026-2027 school year, a campus without a librarian present for half the day would be out of compliance.
