Summary

Households cut off for unpaid bills, counted weekly through September 30.

The bill requires the Public Utility Commission to publish a yearly online report, starting by June 1, showing how many Texas households have had their electric service cut off for unpaid bills. Through September 30 each year, the commission must update that count at least weekly, and it may require electric providers and other market players to hand over the data it needs. Texans get a public, near-real-time count of summer power shutoffs for nonpayment, with the first report due June 1, 2026.
