Summary

Only for generators without a kill switch.

The bill requires makers who sell portable generators in Texas without a carbon-monoxide kill switch to put a warning label about carbon monoxide poisoning and safe use on the generator and its box. Retailers must make sure the generators they sell carry the label, and the state insurance commissioner writes the label rules. People hurt by a missing label can sue for damages and attorney's fees, and the attorney general can treat a violation as a deceptive trade practice, starting September 1, 2025.
