Summary

Related cases can go to the office of capital and forensic writs.

The bill lets the Texas Forensic Science Commission review and refer cases that relate to the subject of one of its forensic investigations to the office of capital and forensic writs, not just the exact cases under investigation. It touches the commission, that defense office, and people whose convictions may rest on forensic evidence tied to an investigation. More cases can be sent to the writs office for possible legal challenge starting September 1, 2025.
