Summary

At the parent’s direction. Doesn’t count as assisting a voter.

The bill lets a child under 14 read or mark a parent's ballot at the parent's direction while the child is with the parent at a voting station, and says this does not count as assisting a voter. It also requires the secretary of state to create voter education materials for parents on this rule and post them online, and requires certain county election officers to post the same materials on county websites. Parents who vote with young children are affected, and starting September 1, 2025, a child under 14 can physically mark the ballot without being treated as an assistant under election law.
