Summary

A city or emergency services district in the county can run it.

The bill lets a county that adopts a fire code contract with a city in the county, or with an emergency services district located wholly in the county, to run and enforce that fire code. It also lets such an emergency services district sign an interlocal agreement to take over all or part of the county's fire code enforcement, and it requires the county fire marshal to hand off enforcement under any such contract. Counties, cities, emergency services districts and county fire marshals are affected, and on the ground fire code inspections and enforcement can shift from the county fire marshal to a local fire district or city.
