Summary

Counties of 200,000 or more still need the office and one full-time employee.

The bill changes who a county veterans service office reports to in large counties. In counties of 200,000 or more people, the office must still exist, stay separate from other county offices and have at least one full-time employee, but it may now report to the commissioners court or to someone the court designates. This lets county commissioners hand day-to-day oversight of the veterans office to a designee instead of supervising it themselves, starting September 1, 2025.
