Ambulances with a CT scanner. Hospitals get help buying them.
The bill orders the Health and Human Services Commission to set up a grant program that helps hospitals buy mobile stroke units, which are ambulances carrying a CT scanner and staff who can diagnose and treat strokes on the road. Only hospitals holding the state's top comprehensive (Level 1) stroke designation may apply, and the money can only go to equipment such as the vehicle, the scanner and stroke treatment gear. Winners must sign a contract with state control conditions and report every year on patient outcomes and operating costs, with rules due by January 1, 2026, and grants paid from available or appropriated money.
