relating to transportation to school for a child required to attend school as a condition of probation.

Caption from analyzed text · version I.

Summary

Judges write transportation into the probation order. So the child doesn’t miss school.

When a juvenile court puts a child on probation and orders the child to attend school, the judge must first talk with the parents, school officials and the probation officer, then write a transportation plan into the probation order so the child does not miss school for lack of a ride. Probation officers deciding whether a child skipped school voluntarily must consider whether transportation was reasonably available that day. This touches juvenile courts, probation officers, schools and families, and it means a missed bus is weighed before an absence is reported as voluntary, starting September 1, 2025.
