Bill text, introduced version (I)

The new test pairs an international border with a part-county national park under a set acreage, which points the program at a handful of specific counties. The caption does admit 'certain counties,' so the narrowness is disclosed and confidence stays moderate.

Summary

Border county, part of a national park under 100,000 acres. That points at a handful of counties.

This bill widens who can use an existing state grant program for public improvement projects in unincorporated communities. Right now the program covers only tiny border counties of 3,000 people or fewer that touch at least three other small counties, and the bill adds any border county that holds part of a national park under 100,000 acres. A newly qualifying county's unincorporated communities could seek these grants, while the population cutoff for the original group tightens slightly from 'not more than' to 'less than' 3,000.
