Summary

One year, issued right away. Military spouses get three.

The bill orders the State Board for Educator Certification to create a one-year temporary teaching certificate for teachers already certified in another state, issued right away when they apply for a regular Texas certificate. It touches out-of-state teachers with a valid, non-temporary credential and an accredited bachelor's degree, and gives military spouses a three-year version. The board can pull the certificate after reviewing credentials, the certificate cannot be renewed, and several existing out-of-state certification subsections in Section 21.052 are repealed.
