Summary

The caption mentions only the new certificate. Which rules are lost? The text doesn’t say.

The bill orders the state educator certification board to create a temporary teaching certificate for teachers already certified in another state and to issue it right away when they apply for a full Texas certificate. To qualify, a teacher must hold a valid, non-temporary certificate from another state and a bachelor's degree from an accredited school, and the board can pull the certificate after reviewing the teacher's credentials. The certificate lasts one year, or three years for spouses of active-duty military, cannot be renewed, and the bill also repeals several existing subsections of the current out-of-state certification law.
