Summary

Caption: judges, prosecutors, servicemembers. Bill: plus peace officers. It also repeals the same section it amends!

The bill rewrites the school transfer law so that judges, prosecuting attorneys, servicemembers, and now peace officers can require a school district to move their child to another campus or district of their choosing. It touches school boards and the families of those four job groups, and it newly spells out which judges count. On the ground, police and other peace officers gain the same transfer right the others had, districts still do not have to provide transportation, and a second section repeals the same code section the bill amends, which reads as a drafting conflict.
