Summary

Grants to help schools collect and report CTE data, if money exists.

The bill tells the Texas Education Agency to create a grant program, using money the Legislature sets aside or that is otherwise available, to help school districts and charter schools collect, analyze and report data on career and technical education. Districts and charters that win grants can buy software and train staff to track things like student work hours, industry certification results and their costs, student group activities, and course enrollment broken out by race, ethnicity, gender and special populations. The agency must write rules for applications, eligibility and priorities and set up the program as soon as practicable, with the law taking effect immediately or on September 1, 2025.
