Summary
If money shows up. Software to track work hours, certifications and enrollment by race.
The bill orders the Texas Education Agency to set up a grant program, if money is appropriated, that pays school districts and charter schools to collect, analyze and report career and technical education data. Schools can use the grants to buy software and train staff to track student activities, work hours, certification results, readiness measures, and course enrollment broken out by race, ethnicity, gender and special populations. On the ground, schools that win grants build more detailed student data systems tied to the state's PEIMS reporting, starting as soon as practicable after the bill takes effect.
